As per the 2nd constitution schedule, the Salary for Indian President is to be paid is $10,000 PM. In the year 1998 the amount was raised to 50000 (equal to 190,000 in 2020). On the year 2008 September 11 the Indian Government had increased the Rashtrapati salary to 1.5 lakh rupees (approximately to 3.6 lakh in 2020). And in Indian Budget of 2018 this compensation was increased to 5 lakh (equivalent to 5.9 lakh in 2022). However everything Indian President does or wants to do, however, is covered by a 225 million (equivalent to 530 million in 2020) annual budget set aside by the govt.

Article 58 of Indian constitution states the basic requirements for running for president. Person to become President must possess the following -
- Must be citizen of India
- Must be 35 years of age or above
- Must be qualified to become member of Lok Sabha
- If he/she occupies a profit-making position under the Indian Govt, the Govt of State, or any local or other authority under the control of any of the said Govts, he is ineligible for the post.
On the other hand certain officeholders are allowed to run for president, Which are -
- The current vice-president
- The governor of any state
- Minister of Union or of any state (including PM & CMs).
